Job summary

9amHealth is seeking a Director of Health Plan Sales to lead new partnerships with national and regional health plans. This is an individual contributor role for a seller who knows the health plan landscape and can own deals from first outreach to signed contracts.

Based anywhere in the US with about 40% travel to client meetings and our Encinitas, CA office, you will open doors, manage the full sales cycle, and shape network provider and vendor partnerships while collaborating with executives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of enterprise sales or business development experience in healthcare.
• Track record of closing health plan partnerships (network or vendor) with demonstrable deal sizes and timelines.
• Strong, active network across national and regional health plans with ability to secure senior meetings quickly.
• Deep knowledge of health plans: lines of business, contracting, credentialing, claims, reimbursement, quality programs.
• Fluency in value-based and outcomes-based contracting with ROI storytelling for plan leadership.
• Experience running long, complex sales cycles with minimal support.
• Ability to travel up to 40% for client meetings, conferences, and Encinitas office.
• Experience selling digital health, chronic condition management programs to payers (Nice to have).

Responsibilities

• Open doors quickly using your health plan network to secure meetings with decision-makers.
• Own the full sales cycle from outreach to signed contract.
• Lead in-network provider partnerships with contracting, credentialing, reimbursement, and network adequacy.
• Develop vendor partnerships as a contracted clinical program with pricing models.
• Navigate procurement, vendor vetting, security reviews, and legal redlines.
• Tailor the clinical and financial ROI narrative to each plan’s priorities and metrics.
• Collaborate with COO, CMO, marketing, finance, and implementation on proposals and launches.
• Share competitive insights to inform product, pricing, and go-to-market strategy.
• Maintain a disciplined pipeline and report activity to executives.
• Represent 9amHealth at industry events to build relationships and pipeline.
