Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Senior Health Physics Technician to provide Radiation Protection coverage at the Millstone Nuclear Power Station in Waterford, CT. You will report to the site manager and work onsite, performing surveys, material and equipment checks, and ALARA planning as part of daily plant activities.

Qualified candidates will have 2,000 hours in commercial nuclear power per 3.1A, knowledge of radiation safety principles, and experience with detection equipment

• Knowledge of radiation safety principles, regulations, and industry standards.
• Knowledge of radiation detection and measurement equipment, including calibration and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Provide Radiation Protection coverage and oversight for power-plant activities.
• Complete surveys of radiation and contamination; surveys of material and equipment; release of personnel and materials; material escort.
• ALARA planning; assist with decontamination activities; support Site Emergency Plan.

About The Role

Westinghouse is recruiting Senior Health Physics Technicians to work at teh Millstone Nuclear Power Station located in Waterford CT. Provide Radiation Protection coverage and oversight for power-plant activates. In addition to providing job coverage, certain routine tasks may be assigned determined by individual certifications, qualifications, and skills.

You will report to the Westinghouse site manager and be located onsite.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Radiation Protection coverage and oversight for power-plant activates. In addition to providing job coverage, certain routine tasks may be assigned determined by individual certifications, qualifications, and skills. Types of tasks RP Technicians may perform include the following:

• radiation and contamination surveys
• material and equipment surveys
• release of personnel and material
• material escort
• ALARA planning
• Help with decontamination activities
• Support Site Emergency Plan

Qualifications

• Senior Health Physics Technician 3.1A or above. (3.1A requires 2,000 hours of commercial nuclear power combined with a systematic approach to training).
• Knowledge of radiation safety principles, regulations, and industry standards.
• Knowledge of radiation detection and measurement equipment, including calibration and quality control.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly pay range for this position, which is dependent upon experience and qualifications, is estimated to be $44 per hour, Diem is $211 per day, with a compleation bonus.
