Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC is seeking Senior Health Physics Technicians to support radiation protection at multiple U.S. nuclear power plants. You will provide coverage and oversight for plant activities, reporting to the site manager and being onsite at various locations.

The role requires knowledge of radiation safety principles, relevant regulations, and detector equipment, including calibration and QC. Hourly pay ranges from $34 to $40, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Senior Health Physics Technician 3.1A or above with 2,000 hours of commercial nuclear power experience and formal training.
• Knowledge of radiation safety principles, regulations and industry standards.
• Knowledge of radiation detection and measurement equipment, including calibration and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Provide Radiation Protection coverage and oversight for power-plant activities, with tasks assigned based on certifications and skills.
• Perform radiation and contamination surveys.
• Conduct material and equipment surveys.
• Support ALARA planning and decontamination activities.
• Assist with the Site Emergency Plan.

About the role

Westinghouse is recruiting Senior Health Physics Technicians to work at various Nuclear Power Plants within the Unites States. Provide Radiation Protection coverage and oversight for power-plant activates. In addition to providing job coverage, certain routine tasks may be assigned determined by individual certifications, qualifications, and skills.

You will report to the Westinghouse site manager and be located onsite at various locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Radiation Protection coverage and oversight for power-plant activates. In addition to providing job coverage, certain routine tasks may be assigned determined by individual certifications, qualifications, and skills. Types of tasks RP Technicians may perform include the following:
• radiation and contamination surveys
• material and equipment surveys
• release of personnel and material
• ALARA planning
• Help with decontamination activities
• Support Site Emergency Plan

Qualifications

• Senior Health Physics Technician 3.1A or above. (3.1A requires 2,000 hours of commercial nuclear power combined with a systematic approach to training).
• Knowledge of radiation safety principles, regulations, and industry standards.
• Knowledge of radiation detection and measurement equipment, including calibration and quality control.
