UnitedHealth Group's Optum Insight within the Trend Analytics team seeks a data/BA specialist to define data requirements, profile data, and translate needs into specifications. You will work with data engineers on ETL processes, perform QA, and document data flows for health insurer data domains.

Role emphasizes analytical rigor, ability to summarize complex findings, and effective communication to cross-functional teams across health data platforms.

Formación

• 4+ years of hands-on data analysis of health insurer's Medical Eligibility/Membership and Medical Claims data.
• 4+ years Business Analyst experience, gathering requirements and writing data functional specifications.
• 4+ years hands-on experience with database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata, Snowflake.
• 4+ years hands-on experience writing ad hoc SQL against a data warehouse containing large data volumes from diverse sources.
• Intermediate+ SQL with select, join, aggregate, sort, nest.
• Experience improving business processes via automation and analytics with tech collaboration.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, functions).
• Ability to summarize findings and communicate to diverse audiences.

Responsabilidades

• Define, gather, and review data requirements for health insurer's Eligibility/Membership and Claims databases (e.g., Medical, Pharmacy Claims).
• Conduct data profiling and analysis to determine how source data can fulfill business and technical requirements.
• Translate business needs into clear, actionable data functional specifications.
• Collaborate with data engineers to create/update repeatable data ETL processes.
• Design and perform QA checks to ensure alignment with expectations.
• Document functional specifications, test plans, data flow diagrams, and data dictionaries.
• Research root causes of data issues and recommend solutions.
• Work with data engineering to manage high-volume production data with reliability and scalability.
• Develop analyses to communicate code changes to stakeholders.
