Job summary

Gallagher is seeking an Underwriter 3 to work remotely across the United States. You will collaborate with Leaders, underwriters, data consultants, account managers, and clients to prepare RFPs, analyze quotes, and manage a small book of business while evaluating healthcare plan data and financials.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5 years in health and benefits with broker/carrier experience, plus strong MS Office skills and knowledge of funding mechanisms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years experience with Broker or Carrier side with focus on Health and Benefits.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
• High degree of understanding of employee benefits funding mechanisms.
• Must be familiar with carrier reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Execute competitive bidding of all employee benefits coverage lines.
• Prepare PowerPoints outlining financial and contractual analysis according to company policy.
• Review vendor proposals for accuracy.
• Collaborate with Data Consultants, Account Managers, and Producers to evaluate, determine, and recommend alternative coverages, pricing, options, and plan design changes based on analysis of available plan elements and on client/prospect goals.
• Produce deliverables timely, accurately, and in compliance with company standards.
• Provide deliverables for Self-Funded clients.
• Perform advanced level duties in our Actuarial Tool and Data Warehouse.
• Negotiate all lines of coverage with carrier partners.
• Present all forms of reporting and financial deliverables to our clients.
• Forecast and develop client budget projections.
• Maintain positive relationships with vendor representatives.
• Remain abreast of the health insurance environment and constantly changing insurance legislation.
• Respond to routine and non-routine correspondence.
• Work independently and within the team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.
• Maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
