Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8–12+ years of technical experience in healthcare IT, with at least 5 years in architecture roles.
- Strong expertise in:
- eMPA (Enhanced Member Person API) or similar payer interoperability frameworks
- FHIR-based database design and resource modeling
- API design (REST, GraphQL), microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Experience with EHR, payer systems, clinical data models, and healthcare workflows.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA, CMS interoperability rules, and security best practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FHIR servers (HAPI, Smile CDR, Firely, AWS HealthLake).
- Knowledge of claims processing, utilization management, and value-based care data exchanges.
- Certifications in FHIR, HL7, AWS, or enterprise architecture (TOGAF).
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end healthcare interoperability solutions using FHIR, DaVinci frameworks, and eMPA guidelines.
- Develop scalable, secure, and compliant healthcare data architectures.
- Lead API strategy, data modeling, and integration patterns across clinical, payer, and provider systems.
- Technical Leadership
- Provide architectural oversight for engineering teams delivering FHIR-based workflows, databases, and services.
- Guide the team on best practices for adopting HL7 standards, SMART on FHIR, and value-based care use cases.
- Review technical designs and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Interoperability & Compliance
- Architect solutions that meet regulatory, privacy, and security requirements (HIPAA, CMS mandates, DaVinci use cases).
- Drive implementation of clinical quality measures, prior authorization, patient access APIs, and payer-to-payer data exchange.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with product managers, client stakeholders, clinicians, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions and technical architecture into actionable development tasks.
- Stay updated on emerging interoperability standards, FHIR releases, and CMS regulatory changes.
- Recommend improvements to existing platforms, workflows, and data pipelines.
