The State of Florida's Department of Environmental Protection seeks a PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER III in Tallahassee to lead engineering reviews for hazardous waste permitting and corrective actions. A Florida PE license is required for this role.

The incumbent provides senior technical leadership, coordinates with district offices, consultants, and stakeholders, and ensures regulatory compliance and timely permitting milestones.

Qualifications

• Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• At least four years of verifiable related experience in engineering or environmental science.
• Valid Driver’s License and background screening required.

Responsibilities

• Direct engineering review and certification of permitting and corrective action documents.
• Coordinate with district staff, consultants, applicants, and internal teams on complex issues.
• Lead technical discussions and provide agency-action recommendations.
• Provide training and mentorship within the Permitting and Compliance program.
• Monitor EPA-related rulemaking and ensure compliance with regs.
• Draft guidance, procedures, and SOPs for regulatory interpretation.
