Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico is seeking an experienced Hazardous Material Packaging Specialist to ensure compliance with DOE/DOT and Sandia requirements for hazardous materials handling and transport.

On any given day you will establish shipping requirements with customers, provide packing instructions, oversee packaging activities, and sign shipping documents while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. On-site work is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field, plus five (5) or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience interpreting federal, state, and local hazardous material standards and regulations.
• Experience in hazardous material management, disposition, coordination, packaging, movement, storage, quality control, or transportation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers to establish shipping requirements and schedules.
• Provide packing instructions to prepare hazardous materials for shipment, including marking, labelling, and container selection.
• Oversee packaging activities to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
• Sign legal shipping documentation on behalf of Sandia National Laboratories.
• Provides guidance and direction to internal customers for the safe and compliant shipment of items.
• Ensures safe compliant shipping of radiological materials.
• Ability to collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders.
