Job summary

Antares is seeking a Harness Design Engineer to own the harness design from wire selection through 3D routing to a supplier-ready release package for safety-class applications. You will coordinate CAD, schematics, BOM, and supplier relations while maintaining QA and regulatory compliance.

The role includes owning toolchains, release processes, and build readiness, with hands-on shop floor leadership and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, compliant harness solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years designing production wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
• Experience with electrical/harness CAD tools (Zuken E3.series, Siemens Capital, Mentor VeSys, SolidWorks Electrical, CATIA Electrical, Rapid Harness).
• Demonstrated knowledge of harness component selection: wire construction, derating, and connectors.
• Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and harness workmanship, inspection, and electrical test practice.
• Experience with quality programs (NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, AS9100).
• Experience directing technicians or build teams on the shop floor.
• Experience with external harness or electrical panel suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Own harness CAD design: route, bundle, and constrain every harness in the 3D model and ensure accessibility for assembly and service.
• Own harness schematics: develop wiring diagrams, wire lists, pinout tables, and shielding/ grounding schemes.
• Own component selection: choose wire, connectors, backshells, and crimp tooling. Ensure compliance with specs.
• Design to safety-class requirements: maintain separation, qualification envelopes, and traceability for licensing.
• Own the harness design review and release process: define gates, package contents, and ECO/PLM flow.
• Be responsible for harness design software: improve data flow, checks, automation, and license management.
• Support supplier selection and qualification: evaluate harness houses and panel builders, conduct audits and RFQ packages.
• Own build packages and supplier communication: hand off packages, resolve questions, and manage deviations.
• Own harness BOM and material readiness: ensure on-time delivery with conformance certificates and traceability.
• Manage in-house harness builds: supervise technicians on the shop floor and enforce quality.
