Job summary

IonQ in Louisville, CO is seeking a Senior Hardware Test Automation Engineer to lead automated test development for space system hardware, collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers.

You will build reusable test frameworks in Python, run verification campaigns, and document results to ensure repeatable, reliable hardware testing at scale. This role offers a base salary range, bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in hardware test automation or similar
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering or related field
• Experience with Python for scripting and automation
• Familiarity with lab equipment and test interfaces (GPIB, Ethernet, USB)
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities

• Own automated test development from concept through deployment for new hardware
• Develop and maintain automated test capabilities (Primarily Python) to control lab equipment and run procedures
• Create reusable frameworks for test automation across hardware subsystems
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to design test cases covering functional requirements and fault conditions
• Execute hardware test campaigns, analyze results, and identify root causes of anomalies
• Interface with flight software and ground software teams to ensure cohesive test interfaces
• Document test procedures, results, and configurations for traceability and reproducibility
• Contribute to continuous improvement of test infrastructure, tools and processes
