Job summary

Verra Mobility in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Senior Hardware Systems Engineer to design, test, and maintain hardware and software systems for robust operation. You will lead hardware/firmware development, validate against specs, and collaborate with ODMs and firmware teams to optimize performance.

Role emphasizes embedded sensors (camera/radar), sensor fusion, and alignment with product requirements and customer needs. Strong CAD, lab, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical/electromechanical or computer engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a high-volume consumer electronics system environment preferred.
• Experience with schematic and PCB design using Cadence Concept and Allegro or similar CAD tools.
• Lab skills: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, electronic loads, etc.
• Ability to work with firmware codebases; deep firmware skills are not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Design experience in digital logic, power delivery, RF/wireless concepts a plus.
• Experience with high-speed interfaces and signal integrity.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, field validation, and deployment for hardware/firmware systems.
• Develop specifications from product requirements with hardware teams.
• Create and execute validation test plans against specs and field needs.
• Perform root-cause analyses for hardware and firmware field failures.
• Collaborate with 3rd party ODMs in development and validation.
• Perform acceptance testing for hardware/firmware from vendors.
• Drive device performance via firmware understanding and configuration.
• Own embedded sensor functionality including sensor fusion (cameras, radar).
• Coordinate with commercial teams to meet customer business rules in field.
