Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina, is seeking a Hardware Security Engineer to advance security across hardware and firmware. You will own analysis from high-level architecture down to silicon, guiding multi-functional teams and mentoring Security & Trust engineers.

You will translate complex security standards into practical engineering requirements, partnering across disciplines to drive secure hardware platforms for hyperscale environments.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 9+ years experience BS, 6+ years MS, or 3+ years PhD in security/ Hardware domains.
• Background in hardware RoT, secure boot, tamper resistance, cryptographic imprinting, or hardware crypto acceleration.

Responsibilities

• Provide architecture guidance and security requirements to product/hardware teams and mentor the Security & Trust engineers.
• Coordinate with external groups like OCP and SONiC Security Working Groups.
• Evaluate system-level hardware designs, schematics, board architectures and datasheets for threats and gaps.
• Align requirements with standards like NIST SP 800-193, NSA CNSA 2.0, CRA, HW-CSDL mandates.
• Author security requirements, threat models, checklists and engineering specs for internal/external use.
• Lead multiple security evaluations, design reviews and compliance workstreams across programs.
