Job summary

HCL Technologies Limited in San Jose is seeking a Senior Technical Lead (Hardware Rework Technician) to be the core expert for precision PCBA modifications, micro-soldering, and ECO-driven fixes across our security appliances and hardware accelerators.

You will collaborate with hardware design and diagnostic engineers, support rapid ECOs, and drive prototype validation in a fast-paced lab. IPC-610/IPC-7711/7721 standards guide your daily work in a hands-on role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on PCBA rework in R&D or NPI environments.
• Micro-soldering to 0201/0402 sizes with optical magnification.
• Ability to read schematics, layout drawings, ECO markup (Cadence/Allegro).
• Proficient with high-end soldering tools and thermal rework equipment.
• Strong attention to detail, proactive communication, and queue prioritization.
• Preferable IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721 certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-density board-level rework and micro-soldering on SMT and through-hole parts.
• Replace components down to 0201/0402 sizes and fine-pitch packages without damage.
• Execute trace cuts, pad repairs, solder mask fixes, and precision jumper mods.
• Build and repair custom cables, wire harnesses, and test headers.
• Instrument boards for debugging with probes and test points for scope/LA.
• Support ECOs, fast bring-up, and prototype validation builds.
• Inspect reworks to IPC-610 / IPC-7711/7721 standards.
• Maintain lab 5S, ESD safety, and preventive maintenance of rework tools.
