Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead the hardware development of wired connectivity technologies, including SerDes and Ethernet PHYs, within the Network Technology and Design team. You will collaborate with ECU teams and semiconductor partners to advance GM’s vehicle architecture.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering or related field, 5+ years in hardware design, and experience with Mentor Graphics Xpedition and ORCAD.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering / Electronics / Computer Science is required.
  • 5+ years engineering experience in OEM/semiconductor/Tier 1 ECU supplier.
  • 3+ years of electronic hardware design experience and knowledge of automotive HW/architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate network technologies into ECU designs.
  • Perform hardware analysis including SI/PI for SerDes and Ethernet circuits.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues and conduct root-cause analysis across ECUs.
  • Lead design reviews to ensure high-quality, manufacturable hardware.
  • Develop hardware requirements and test specs for SerDes/Ethernet connectivity.
