Job summary

Collins Aerospace, a leader in aerospace and defense, seeks a Principal Hardware Engineer for an onsite role in Largo, FL. You will lead cross‑functional teams across design, production, and sustainment of military communication products, including RF assemblies and antennas, ensuring producibility and performance.

The role requires a STEM degree with 8+ years (or a related advanced degree with 5+ years), and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) required, with 8+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• Experience in designing or producing military electronic communication systems and transitioning programs to production and sustainment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with proficiency in technical documentation.
• Strong project management expertise and leadership in multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-discipline engineering teams from design to production and sustainment.
• Own producibility, testability, and performance reviews during design for producibility.
• Drive design, specification, and optimization for production equipment, tooling, and gaging.
• Lead RCCA investigations and supplier/design site collaboration.
• Communicate status and technical topics effectively to leadership and customers.
• Conduct design and supplier trade studies and update hardware specs and data packages.
• Develop production test strategies and coverage analyses.
• Support configuration control and participate in the Configuration Control Board (CCB).
• Identify risks and opportunities and manage schedules and earned value.
