Job summary

State of South Carolina, Department of Public Health, seeks a leader for the Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) Unit. The role focuses on epidemiologic data analysis, consultation, and coordination of infection prevention programs across partners and facilities.

The position oversees staff, engages with the CDC, and guides outbreak response, reporting, and performance measures under the ELC Cooperative Agreement. Hybrid work and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and professional experience in related field.
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred; minimum 1 year in infection prevention.
• At least 4 years of relevant healthcare experience; supervisory/teaching/consulting experience advised.
• Experience with NHSN data review and public health surveillance.
• Equivalent education/experience considered; official transcripts may be requested.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team including nurses, pharmacists, and coordinators.
• Serve as primary HAI liaison to CDC and report on ELC cooperative agreement performance.
• Coordinate prevention activities with facilities and relevant partners.
• Provide expert consultation and education on infection prevention and control.
• Assist outbreak investigations and rapid response for HAIs and AR risks.
• Perform other duties and travel as required.
