Job summary

The State of South Carolina, Department of Public Health, seeks a Lead Epidemiologist to direct the Field Epidemiology unit and supervise program managers. You will coordinate outbreak investigations, oversee surveillance data collection, and guide response activities for reportable diseases.

Responsibilities include supporting emergency preparedness, assigning technical guidance, and contributing to grant workplans for ELC Project A. A strong public health leadership background is essential.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or closely related field.
  • An M.D. or doctoral degree in epidemiology, or advanced training may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Field Epidemiology unit and supervise program staff.
  • Coordinate outbreak response and epi investigations.
  • Review surveillance data and improve Epi capabilities per CDC guidelines.
  • Prepare grant workplans and reports for ELC projects.
