Job summary

Roblox in San Mateo, CA is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to define the data ontology and establish standard data operations practices across the company.

You will design, build, and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines, mentor a growing team of Data Engineers, and collaborate with Data Science, Experimentation, ML, and Data Infrastructure teams to deliver robust data solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building scalable ETL pipelines using Airflow, Dagster, Luigi or Cloud Composer with SQL, PySpark or Scala.
• 3+ years leading data engineering work with business or data science partners.
• Built and scaled multi-terabyte data sets and solved large-scale analytics challenges.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Developed or enhanced ETL orchestration tools/frameworks.
• Familiar with GitOps workflows (branching, PRs, CI/CD).

Responsibilities

• Define the data ontology for Roblox across the organization.
• Lead and mentor a growing team of Data Engineers.
• Design, build, and maintain batch and streaming pipelines to populate core data sets.
• Develop scalable analytics tooling and automate data workflows.
• Establish standard methodologies for data operations and lifecycle management.
