Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking a motivated Grounds Supervisor II to oversee landscaping for government facilities in Wake County. You will manage a grounds crew, supervise subordinates, and coordinate with maintenance staff to keep historic and official properties well-kept, including Governor's Mansion grounds and surrounding areas.

The role requires strong horticultural knowledge, leadership, and collaboration with institutional personnel and nurseries.

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of horticultural principles and practices for landscaping, maintenance, and upkeep of grounds.
• Ability to supervise and participate in maintenance of landscape equipment such as tractors and mowers.
• Ability to plan and direct the work of a grounds maintenance unit.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with institutional personnel and nurseries.
• Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage the work of subordinates, including performance evaluations.
• Prepare for and plant shrubs, trees, flowers, and lawns.
• Install hardened landscape structures and implement scheduled maintenance.
• Diagnose diseased plants and take remedial action.
• Oversee repair of landscape equipment and maintenance tasks.
