Job summary
Umbra is seeking a Ground Systems Engineer & Architect to define, design, and validate secure, mission-critical ground systems for U.S. Government and Intelligence Community missions.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to maintain access.
- 8–12+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, software/infrastructure engineering, or ground systems engineering for complex government or aerospace programs.
- Experience designing, architecting, integrating, and verifying mission-critical ground systems, including architecture, interfaces, requirements, and verification planning.
- Experience developing COMSEC plans, key management, and secure communications requirements.
- Strong understanding of RED/BLACK architectures, cross-domain considerations, and classified networking principles.
- Experience IT infrastructure and network integration, including secure networking, virtualization, storage, servers, and enterprise computing environments.
- Experience developing Kubernetes/Docker containerized services.
- Strong systems engineering leadership for integration, verification, validation, and operational testing of ground systems.
Responsibilities
- Architect end-to-end ground system architectures for space, ISR, and national security missions.
- Lead system integration, verification, validation, and operational testing activities.
- Develop and implement secure computing environments including COMSEC and cross-domain interfaces.
- Provide technical leadership and engage with customers during reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, ORR).
- Collaborate across engineering teams to enable mission operations using DevSecOps, IaC, automation, and modern deployment pipelines.
