Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Typically requires 6 years of experience in electric utility distribution planning, with a focus on DER integration
• Strong understanding of distribution system operations, protection, and planning principles
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., WindMil, CYME, Synergi)
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and interconnection standards (e.g., IEEE 1547, FERC, NERC)
• Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
• Experience with hosting capacity analysis and locational value assessments preferred
• Knowledge of DERMS, AMI, and ADMS systems preferred
• Experience working with utilities, developers, and regulatory agencies preferred

Responsibilities

• DER Analysis & Impact Studies: conduct DER hosting capacity, voltage, thermal, protection, and power quality studies; collaborate with interconnection teams and support DERMS integration
• Modeling & Simulation: perform steady-state and dynamic simulations using WindMil, CYME, and Synergi; develop distribution models and run scenarios
• Communication & Documentation: prepare technical reports, presentations, and regulatory filings
• Mentorship & Process Improvement: mentor junior engineers and improve planning processes and methodologies
