Job summary

Amtrak is seeking a financial grants manager to oversee day-to-day administrative and financial management of a portfolio of federal, state, and local grants totaling billions of dollars annually. You will ensure compliance with grant terms and regulations, manage documentation for Single Audits, and support timely financial deliverables.

Responsibilities include monitoring spend, preparing payment requests in SAP and Excel, and collaborating with multiple departments to keep grants on track.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in grants management and finance.
• Experience with federal grants and audits of federal grants.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint; ability to convey complex data clearly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day administrative and financial management of grant portfolios worth billions.
• Ensure compliance with contractual terms and federal/state grant regulations.
• Maintain documentation for Single Audits and track deliverables deadlines.
• Prepare payment requests using SAP, Excel, and related tools.
• Support project managers to ensure grant activities comply with agreements.
• Maintain grant files and deadlines in compliance trackers for program staff.
• Attend meetings with federal grantors and project teams.
• Provide data support for internal and external audits.
• Monitor spending to prevent overspending and non-compliant expenses.
• Perform additional tasks to support the Office of Funding and Grants Management.
