AC Disaster Consulting seeks a Senior Grants & Finance Advisor to provide full-time, remote support to the Harris County Flood Control District finance team on grant accounting and compliance matters.

The role emphasizes process improvement, strong collaboration with leadership, and hands-on guidance across grants and financial management. Travel may be required to client sites; candidates should bring deep federal grant knowledge and ERP proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years in governmental/grant accounting or related advisory work.
• 5+ years experience in both grant financial management and accounting/financial management principles.
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review grant accounting policies, procedures, workflows, internal controls, and financial management practices.
• Identify gaps, inefficiencies, compliance risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and improve SOPs, internal controls, reconciliation processes, reporting practices, and QA/QC tools.
• Provide guidance on grant accounting, allowable costs, documentation, and financial reporting.
• Assess practices against federal grant requirements (2 CFR Part 200) where applicable.
• Work with leadership to develop practical recommendations and implementation plans.
