Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston is seeking a grant writer responsible for drafting compelling letters of intent and grant proposals to private foundations and corporations as well as key components of public fundraising.

The role includes researching funding prospects, developing proposals, tracking grants, and delivering stewardship and metrics reports for donors, while providing direct support to the Development Team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• A minimum of 4 years of grant writing experience including proposals, reports, and budgets.
• Proven track record of raising $1M+ annually.
• Knowledge of Greater Houston foundations and corporations is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Generate a significant portion of annual fundraising goals from institutional sources.
• Cultivate prospective institutional donors and manage a donor portfolio.
• Write, submit, and track grant proposals and reports in Raiser’s Edge; manage deadlines.
• Develop and update LOIs and proposals for larger grants as needed.
• Maintain expert knowledge of BGCGH programs and outcomes and keep proposal language current.
• Collaborate with Programs/Operations to develop proposals and report grant results.
• Coordinate stewardship content with Relationship Managers for donors and site visits.
• Maintain donor data in Raiser’s Edge and track proposals and actions.
• Communicate grant expectations and reporting to Finance, Programs and Operations staff.
• Stay connected with clubs to support local grant writing and identify new opportunities.
