Job summary

Curtis Contracting, Inc. is seeking a Grade Foreman in the Richmond, VA area for a December project kickoff. The role focuses on supervising crews, managing daily tasks, and ensuring safety and quality on site.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with heavy equipment, GPS grading, and reading drawings, with strong leadership and communication skills. The position requires outdoor work in all weather conditions, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a construction supervisory role.
• Five plus years' experience in heavy civil construction.
• Experience with grade checking using GPS, rotating laser, stakes and cut sheets.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reads, understands, and interprets drawings and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Drug screen required.
• Able to communicate effectively with workers and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all crew members and subcontracted employees.
• Oversee daily assignments, scheduling, and attendance.
• Monitor work progress or crew, and certify team hours for payroll.
• Delegate tasks and direct crew.
• Involvement with orientation, training, performance management and employment decisions.
• Ensure safety precautions and quality standards are met.
• Supervise use of machinery and equipment; ensure resources are available.
• Assist Superintendent in preparing reports on progress and safety.
• Reports on time and materials.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office knowledge.
