Job summary

Maricopa Association of Governments is seeking a team-oriented professional to lead local, state and federal intergovernmental relations efforts. The role includes supporting policy committees, conducting policy research, and managing special projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; in Communications, Political Science, Public Administration, Public Relations, or related field.
• At least 5 years of related work experience in government relations, public policy, or similar.
• Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience allowed.

Responsibilities

• Engage with member agencies and intergovernmental staff on regional policy and legislative matters.
• Prepare materials for MAG policy and technical committees and agency staff.
• Track, research, and analyze proposed state and federal legislation.
• Monitor hearings and maintain a legislative tracking system; liaise with legislative partners.
• Manage MAG’s state lobbying services contract.
• Develop talking points, presentations, and fact sheets for stakeholders.
• Represent MAG at external meetings and with partners.
• Lead special projects from concept to delivery; ensure quality and timely results.
• Support MAG programs, policies, and external coordination.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
