Job summary

City of Montgomery seeks a senior finance professional to lead GAAP- and GASB-compliant reporting, overseeing financial data integrity and the city’s financial systems. The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and partners with IT, auditors, and department leaders to strengthen operations.

You will develop reporting strategies, interpret new GASB pronouncements, and enable strategic decision-making through reliable financial information and automated workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in governmental accounting or auditing.
• Experience preparing GAAP and GASB-compliant financial statements.
• ERP system experience in a public-sector environment.
• Professional certifications such as CPA/CPFO/CGFM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial reporting and GAAP/GASB compliance for City funds.
• Oversee integrity of financial data and reporting systems.
• Develop and implement reporting strategies and tools.
• Collaborate with CFO, IT, auditors, and department leaders.
• Guide improvements to financial processes and automated workflows.
