Job summary

Gulfshoresal seeks a senior financial executive to manage key city finance operations and assist the Director in advising the City Manager and Council. You will oversee ACFR preparation, budgeting, procurement, grants, and internal controls, while guiding daily finance activities and staff development.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in municipal finance, budgeting, and reporting, with leadership experience. CPA/CGFO desired but not required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of municipal financial management, budgeting theory and practice.
• Knowledge of public finance, budgeting, accounting, and debt management.
• Knowledge of public administration.
• Knowledge of financial information management software.
• Knowledge of GASB and auditing procedures.
• Knowledge of government laws and policies.
• Knowledge of financial software programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of the annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR) with help from staff and auditors.
• Oversee the preparation of the annual AFR filing.
• Oversee the city budget document development, reviews, and adoption communications.
• Oversee and approve budget amendments, cash receipts, and journal entries.
• Provide information and respond to inquiries from public, media, officials, and staff.
• Oversee daily finance operations including AR, AP, banking, payroll, and fixed assets.
• Oversee grants management and Single Audit reporting.
• Lead staff and supervise finance personnel.
