Job summary

Whisper Aero is seeking a Government Contracts Attorney to lead the company’s DoD, SBIR/STTR, and government contracting activities in a fast-moving startup environment. You will own contracts infrastructure, advise cross-functional teams, and translate complex requirements into practical guidance.

You will draft and negotiate prime and subcontractor agreements, establish flowdowns, and ensure compliance, data rights, and marking practices align with business goals while accelerating growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of government contracts experience.
• Extensive knowledge of FAR and DFARS.
• Experience with DoD government contracts.
• SBIR/STTR programs and contracting experience.
• Ability to translate complex government contracting requirements into practical guidance for non-lawyers.

Responsibilities

• Advise executive leadership, engineering, finance, and program teams on opportunities, risks, obligations, and negotiation strategy.
• Draft, review, and negotiate prime contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, NDAs, and related documents.
• Advise on contract formation, administration, modifications, amendments, extensions, and closeout.
• Negotiate with government agencies, primes, subcontractors, and other partners.
• Develop and maintain contract obligation and compliance matrices and flowdowns.
• Ensure alignment of data rights, marking, and IP with Whisper Aero's strategy.
