Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required; plus at least five years’ experience in negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contracts.
• Preferred: at least three years in local government law and contracting, including technology contracts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as legal counsel representing the legal interests of the County for assigned departments; provide legal advice to represented departments, agencies, elected officials and managers as requested or assigned under the direction of the County Attorney.
• Negotiate, draft and review contracts; analyze terms and conditions to protect County interests; resolve contract disputes; ensure compliance with policies, procedures and laws.
• Develop, review and interpret legislation; advise on Open Records Act and Open Meetings Act; draft ordinances and internal policies.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; participate in training and meetings as appropriate.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
