Job summary

The State of Wyoming is seeking a Principal Auditor to plan and conduct independent compliance, operations, and performance audits across state agencies, school districts, and local governments. The role includes leading audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting while following GAGAS and agency procedures, and may involve testifying or training staff.

Expect to deliver clear, well-documented audit work papers, complete audits on schedule, and provide ongoing training and guidance to team members.

Responsibilities

• Conduct audit planning using risk assessment and internal controls to set audit objectives and scope.
• Lead an audit team and direct workflow for staff commensurate to qualifications and experience.
• Complete audits by finishing fieldwork and analyses; ensure conclusions are supported by evidence and compliant with standards.
• Prepare work papers for supervisory review; draft audit reports; conduct exit conferences with auditees.
• Receive training in GAGAS and department policy requiring 40 CPE hours yearly.
• Provide training to current and new employees through classroom and on-the-job training.
• Provide presentations to auditees to ensure compliance and corrective action.
• Give depositions or testimony in a legal setting.
• Perform work to assist in fraud investigations as necessary.
