Job summary

State of Wyoming is seeking an entry-level auditor to travel statewide and audit small to medium businesses, verifying sales, use, lodging, fuel taxes, and IFTA/IRP. The role includes on-the-job training and opportunities to learn external tax auditing with guidance from senior staff.

You will gain experience planning audits, analyzing financial data, and preparing detailed audit reports to ensure compliance and support revenue collection for Wyoming.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field
• 0-2 years auditing experience, Auditor I level
• Travel across Wyoming; valid driver's license

Responsibilities

• Conduct audits of sales, use, fuel, tobacco taxes, IFTA/IRP.
• Assist senior staff in planning and conducting external tax audits of moderately complex to complex entities.
• Prepare audit work papers and write detailed audit reports.
• Review data to ensure compliance with state taxation rules and regulations.
