Job summary

Chainguard, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the architecture and implementation of the Repository team’s core systems.

You will build Go backend services, design scalable, reliable infrastructure, and operate customer-facing registries and APIs at high scale. You will collaborate across Chainguard to expand the repository into a broader artifact platform, impacting how developers access and consume Chainguard artifacts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems.
• Strong Go experience or deep backend systems experience with Go ramp.
• Experience deploying and operating customer-facing infrastructure such as registries, APIs, or other high-scale serving systems.
• Experience deploying and managing services in production with reliability and observability considerations.
• Comfort across application and infrastructure layers, including IaC tools like Terraform.
• Strong communication and collaboration, especially in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for Chainguard Repository components like registries and APIs.
• Design, build, and operate high-availability Go backend services.
• Lead scalability, reliability, observability, and load testing for production systems.
• Drive architectural decisions and operational patterns for artifact-serving infrastructure.
• Partner with engineers to expand repository capabilities across artifact types.
