Job summary

Pivotal in Palo Alto, CA seeks a Systems Engineer – GNC & Flight Controls to translate aircraft-level needs into clear, testable requirements and verify them through analysis, simulation, bench testing, SIL/HIL, ground tests, and flight tests.

You will own Jama-based requirements artifacts, collaborate with GNC, embedded software, electrical, and test teams on control-law behavior and interfaces, and ensure traceability from stakeholder needs to test evidence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant technical discipline.
• 5+ years in aerospace, automotive or safety-critical electromechanical systems.
• Strong requirements engineering and verification experience.
• Experience with Jama or similar requirements tools.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and embedded software familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Develop, decompose, allocate, and maintain requirements for GNC and flight controls.
• Own Jama-based verification artifacts, traceability, baselines, and evidence.
• Translate aircraft behavior and safety needs into measurable requirements.
• Collaborate with GNC and software teams to ensure correct control-law behavior.
• Develop and maintain verification plans, matrices, and test procedures.
• Review results and drive formal verification closure.
• Maintain bidirectional traceability from stakeholders to test evidence.
• Support interfaces across subsystems and review model-based designs.
