Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector in Redondo Beach is seeking a Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) Engineer - Level 4 to provide analysis, design, and operations support for space vehicle and payload GNC systems.

The role involves requirements flow-down, algorithm design, simulation development, and leadership of a small GNC team across programs. A strong background in 3-DOF/6-DOF GNC and state-estimation is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience; or a Master's with 6 years; PhD with 4 years.
Willing to obtain U.S. Government security clearance.
Experience using MATLAB/Simulink or C/C++ for attitude-control or state-estimation algorithms.
Experience with actuator/sensor sizing and selection.
Modeling, simulation, and verification/validation of 3-DOF or 6-DOF GNC systems.

Responsibilities

Translate mission objectives and customer needs into clear GNC requirements.
Collaborate across teams to perform trade studies selecting GNC sensors, actuators, and architectures.
Develop and validate high-fidelity 3-DOF/6-DOF models and simulations of attitude, ephemeris, and LOS dynamics.
Design, implement, and verify GNC algorithms including trackers, filters, and controllers.
Build, test, and integrate software and simulation tools enabling reliable space vehicle GNC during flight operations.
