Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach is seeking a Senior Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer, Propulsive Controls, to own vehicle guidance and control across development and operation while collaborating with a fast, agile team.

Responsibilities include designing and tuning flight control algorithms for spacecraft upper stages and landers, performing stability analyses, contributing to GNC software, mentoring engineers, and creating flight tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in propulsive vehicle control design and analysis.
• Proficiency in Matlab and C++.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and tune robust flight control algorithms for spacecraft: large upper stages and landers.
• Generate stability analyses and control verification data for Impulse’s suite of propulsive missions.
• Participate in GNC software development: both flight code and simulation.
• Mentor other engineers and define the best practices for rocket vehicle control systems.
• Create tools to be used for all flight vehicle GNC systems, enabling missions to be realized quickly.
• Utilize SITL and HITL environments to evaluate vehicle performance and verify flight software implementations.
• Resolve technical issues with innovative, resourceful solutions.
• Communicate design needs, intent, and capability to the broader engineering team.
