Job summary

Northrop Grumman in California seeks a Principal or Senior Principal GNC Engineer to join the Advanced GNC team in Rancho Bernardo or El Segundo. You will design and validate GNC algorithms, develop models, and support air vehicle flight testing.

The role requires on-site work, experience with Matlab/Simulink, and the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance with SAP. Travel is about 20–25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s with 3+ years OR PhD with 1+ year.
• Experience on a team of GNC engineers.
• Proficient in Matlab, Simulink, and autocoding Simulink models.
• Ability to obtain/maintain US Government Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access (SAP).
• Active clearance strongly preferred (Secret or TS depending on program).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, verify and test GNC algorithms, software and simulation tools.
• Develop control laws to meet air vehicle performance and stability margins.
• Create linear and nonlinear dynamic models for software/hardware-in-the-loop simulations.
• Work on complex design problems and drive innovative solutions.
• Support design reviews (PDR/CDR) with analyses.
• Analyze flight test data and support testing activities.
