Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Sr. Compliance Manager, Global Trade Legal & Compliance to lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the global trade compliance program across businesses and geographies. You will oversee policies, training, and controls for import/export and sanctions while advising senior leaders on material risks.

Based in the U.S. with potential locations in Minneapolis, MN or Washington, D.C., this role partners with Global Trade Operations, Supply Chain, and law

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of global trade compliance experience in a large, complex corporate environment, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience, including substantive responsibility for import compliance, export controls, sanctions, investigations or disclosures, and compliance program governance.
• Experience in the healthcare, medical device, or life sciences industry.
• Executive-level written, oral, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex compliance issues into clear decisions and actions.
• Experience with change management, process improvement, compliance technology, or data-driven program monitoring.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and drive timely execution in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise global trade compliance program, driving accountability for import, export control, and sanctions compliance.
• Maintain global trade compliance policies, procedures, standards, training, and governance mechanisms to reflect current legal requirements and business risks.
• Direct cross-functional identification, assessment, and mitigation of material trade compliance risks in partnership with Global Trade Operations, Supply Chain, the Office of Ethics & Compliance, regional experts, and business leaders.
• Establish and monitor controls, remediation plans, and program metrics that strengthen program effectiveness, audit readiness, and sustained compliance.
• Lead or coordinate the compliance response to significant investigations, litigation, potential violations, voluntary disclosures, and corrective actions in alignment with legal counsel and relevant stakeholders.
• Provide strategic trade compliance advice for business development activities, including risk-based due diligence, escalation of material findings, and integration planning.
• Deliver concise, decision-ready guidance to senior leaders and facilitate consistent execution and information sharing across businesses and regions.
