Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an accomplished Senior Strategic Sourcing Buyer to lead the sourcing of key global commodities for our Thermal Chain Optimization operations. You will develop and execute category strategies, deliver cost improvements, and build high-value partnerships.

The role requires five years of progressive procurement experience, a Bachelor’s degree, strong Excel and SAP knowledge, and the ability to influence stakeholders across regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• At least five years in progressive procurement with strategic sourcing.
• Experience applying global sourcing methodologies.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong purchasing principles and data analysis skills.
• Excel proficiency for data analysis; SAP or ERP familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build category expertise including market trends and supplier capabilities.
• Develop and execute commodity sourcing strategies to optimize footprint and reduce cost.
• Align with business unit procurement teams and stakeholders for strategy execution.
• Lead supplier contract and pricing negotiations for competitive terms.
• Identify opportunities to improve working capital, controls, and cost analysis.
• Manage the supply base and strengthen supplier capability and performance.
• Resolve supplier delivery, quality, and commercial issues.
• Use data analytics to optimize procurement processes and support decisions.
• Collaborate with international teams to leverage purchasing opportunities across regions.
• Meet or exceed category objectives for cost savings, quality, and delivery.
