Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Strategic Sourcing Buyer to lead global commodity sourcing and manage supplier relationships across the Thermal Chain Optimization operations. You will build category strategies, negotiate terms, and drive cost improvements while coordinating with international teams.

The role requires at least five years in procurement, strong analytics, and ERP experience, preferably SAP. On-site work with a competitive salary and benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least five years of progressive procurement experience with emphasis on strategic sourcing.
• Experience applying global sourcing methodologies.
• Proven ability to manage and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing principles and best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel for data analysis.
• Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Working knowledge of SAP or a comparable ERP system is preferred.
• Experience in HVAC, engineering, industrial equipment, or a related industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies based on market trends, supplier capabilities and innovations.
• Develop and execute commodity sourcing strategies to optimize supply footprint and reduce total cost.
• Maintain regular alignment with the procurement team and stakeholders for effective strategy execution.
• Lead supplier contract and pricing negotiations to secure favorable terms and long-term partnerships.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve trade working capital, purchasing controls and cost analysis.
• Actively manage the supplier base and lead initiatives to strengthen supplier capability and performance.
• Identify and resolve supplier delivery, quality, and commercial issues.
• Use data and analytics to optimize procurement processes and support make-or-buy decisions.
• Collaborate with international teams to identify and leverage purchasing opportunities across regions.
• Meet or exceed category objectives for cost savings, quality, delivery, and supplier rationalization.
