Job summary

Johnson Controls, a global leader in building systems and energy efficiency, is seeking a procurement professional to support the purchasing function. You will procure materials, issue POs, manage supplier qualification, and coordinate forecasting with senior buyers to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.

Requirements include a business degree and 2–5 years in purchasing or inventory control, plus strong communication and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience.
• Two to five years experience in purchasing or production and inventory control.
• Good communication skills both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Under direction of the purchasing manager/supervisor and senior buyers, procures assigned materials, components, supplies, equipment and services that meet quality, delivery, price, terms, lead times, and inventory requirements.
• Supports senior buyers and purchasing manager on procurement issues, i.e. invoice and receipt discrepancies, expediting orders.
• Assists in supplier qualification and auditing new sources of supply, and vendor set-up.
• Places purchase orders and communicates blanket order/master scheduling/forecasting requirements to suppliers.
• Determines economical lot sizes and supplier lead times; conducts quoting activities to ensure best total cost.
• Supports cost reduction, lead time reduction and supplier consolidation projects.
• Maintains ERP data integrity and assists with expedites as needed.
• Writes contracts and supports contract administration for standard products.
