Job summary

Brex is seeking a Product and Privacy Counsel to lead privacy and regulatory strategy across financial services and technology. You will scale privacy programs, monitor regulatory developments, and provide strategic guidance to protect business objectives.

Collaborate with internal teams, bank partners, and regulators to maintain a forward-looking privacy posture. You will negotiate data-related contracts, advise on product design and go-to-market, and manage external counsel as needed.

Qualifications

• 4+ years working experience in a combination of law firm, technology and fintech companies, with a track record of privacy-related and financial regulatory issues.
• Deep understanding of CCPA, GDPR, and financial regulatory regulations.
• Exceptional judgment and integrity, ability to handle complex matters independently, and product-minded approach to lawyering.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work across various modes of communication; thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
• Capacity to translate complex legal and regulatory concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and time-sensitive projects.
• J.D. from an accredited law school, with a demonstrated track record of excellence in privacy and financial regulatory law. Bar admission and active standing in at least one U.S. state.

Responsibilities

• Scale Data Privacy and Security Programs: Work with engineering and business teams to expand and enhance data security, access, and privacy programs.
• Implement Global Privacy Compliance: Develop processes for adherence to GDPR, CCPA, and related regulations.
• Negotiate Data-Related Contracts: Lead drafting and negotiation of external agreements focusing on data protection.
• Provide Product and Regulatory Advice: Offer regulatory/compliance guidance for products from design to go-to-market.
• Represent Brex Externally: Act as Brex's representative with financial partners and regulators.
• Integrate Innovation & Compliance: Identify opportunities within strict regulatory compliance, assess risks.
• Manage Outside Counsel: Oversee strategies and costs with external counsel.
