Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Senior Buyer - Powertrain Components in Detroit, MI, with a hybrid work arrangement (4 days in-office, 1 day remote). You will build cross-functional relationships across global teams, negotiate with German and Mexican suppliers, and manage long-term supplier strategies for aftermarket and powertrain components.

Candidate must have a decade of procurement experience, German/Spanish fluency, and travel up to 5% per year. Relocation not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 10 years of procurement experience.
• Experience at a global company across cultures.
• 10 years of negotiation with global suppliers.
• 10 years in purchasing processes and compliance.
• 3 years in Mexico powertrain supply base.
• 3 years in casting or forging commodities for commercial vehicles.
• 3 years in purchasing program management.
• Experience with RFQ processes for powertrain parts.
• Fluent German and Spanish (spoken and written).
• Travel up to 5% annually.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with cross-functional teams to understand tech developments and decisions.
• Collaborate with DTAG and Mexican suppliers requiring language skills.
• Negotiate supplier agreements for materials, pricing, and warranties.
• Lead cross-functional teams to evaluate long-term proposals.
• Interface with suppliers and Daimler Truck Engineering to ensure specs are communicated.
• Maintain supplier pricing files and cost-saving reporting.
• Support Parts Distribution Centers on supplier issues.
