Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Engineer — Environmental to drive global product compliance for hazardous substances and emerging chemical regulations across AWS markets. You will collaborate with Hardware Engineering, Supply Chain, Legal, and Sustainability to ensure regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Role requires 5+ years of product compliance and development experience, a Master’s degree in engineering, and the ability to influence

Qualifications

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
• Experience with interdisciplinary teams to take product from concept to production.
• Experience with project management of technical projects.
• Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of product compliance experience in restricted substance areas (REACH/RoHS/POPs, TSCA).
• 5+ years of product development in electronic, machinery, or tech industry.

Responsibilities

• Implement AWS's material and product compliance strategy, roadmap, and specifications for hazardous substances to meet business objectives.
• Collaborate with product compliance TPMs and hardware design teams to obtain regulatory documentation and support product execution.
• Drive regulatory advocacy with EU/global trade associations to influence chemical restrictions.
• Create procedures to mitigate compliance issues early in design phase for international markets.
• Deliver compliance risk assessments, design-for-compliance specs, reviews, and certifications during development.
• Engage hardware and supplier teams on regulatory change impacts to HW design and performance.
• Coordinate governance with Legal, Public Policy, Hardware Engineering, Sustainability, and Supply Chain.
• Own program-level deliverables end-to-end; mentor junior engineers; influence cross-organizational decisions.
• Leverage AI/ML tools for automated screening, risk analytics, and data extraction to accelerate disclosures.
