Job summary

Amazon AWS is seeking a Senior Compliance Engineer — Environmental to drive global product compliance for hazardous substances, energy efficiency, and emerging chemical regulations across AWS markets. You will own regulatory strategy, collaborate with hardware teams, and lead risk assessments from design through production.

Location: Seattle, with flexibility to Sunnyvale or Arlington. You will mentor junior engineers, partner with Legal/Public Policy, and advance compliance using AI/ML tools to

Qualifications

• Master's degree in electrical or computer engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of product compliance experience (REACH/RoHS/TSCA etc.).
• Experience with hardware design and cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of international regulatory requirements for electronics.
• Experience leading technical projects and design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive material compliance strategy for hazardous substances.
• Coordinate with hardware teams to obtain regulatory documentation.
• Engage with EU/global trade associations to influence regulations.
• Create design-phase procedures to mitigate compliance issues.
• Deliver risk assessments, design-for-compliance specs, and certifications.
• Collaborate with Legal, Public Policy, Sustainability, and Supply Chain.
• Lead program deliverables end-to-end and mentor junior engineers.
• Leverage AI/ML tools to scale compliance operations.
