Corning Incorporated is seeking a Staff Glass Melting / Thermal Process Engineer to provide technical leadership in glass melting, furnace operation, and thermal processing. The role focuses on improving melt quality, furnace efficiency, and process reliability across manufacturing systems, working with manufacturing, R&D, quality, and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Lead root-cause analysis and implement sustainable improvements.
• Strong data analysis, modeling, and statistical methods for thermal processes.
• Experience with high-temperature glass manufacturing or related fields.
• Ability to communicate complex issues to varied audiences.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional projects.

Responsabilités

• Lead technical analysis and problem solving related to glass melting, furnace performance, and process stability
• Improve melt quality, energy efficiency, throughput, yield, and reliability through optimization
• Support furnace operation, troubleshooting, and improvement efforts across plants
• Contribute technical leadership to process changes, upgrades, and new technology
• Translate thermal issues into actionable steps for teams
• Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, maintenance, quality, and projects to root causes and improvements
• Develop process guidance and best practices for melting and high-temperature systems
• Guide less experienced engineers in troubleshooting and understanding processes
• Identify opportunities to boost furnace capability and process robustness
• Communicate findings and risks clearly to stakeholders
