Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Mount Pleasant, PA (Hybrid) is seeking a Senior Project Engineer - Substation Design to lead GIS substation projects from concept through installation. You will translate customer requirements into innovative engineering solutions and collaborate with global teams to deliver high-quality substations that meet ISO, environmental, quality, and safety standards.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, 5+ years of substation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in substation engineering, high-voltage equipment, or heavy industrial projects.
• Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software; Creo and AutoCAD experience is highly valued.
• Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications and engineering documentation processes.
• Ability to travel occasionally for customer meetings, project reviews, and site support activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear) substation projects from initial design through installation and commissioning.
• Translate customer requirements into practical, innovative engineering solutions.
• Develop substation layouts, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Facilitate technical discussions and project meetings with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate material procurement, fabrication activities, and installation planning.
• Drive design optimization efforts to improve quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to deliver best-in-class solutions.
• Ensure compliance with ISO, environmental, quality, and safety standards.
