Job summary

Team Royal is seeking a GIS Manager to lead our geospatial program, manage GIS staff, and deliver accurate maps and analyses for projects in Baton Rouge and beyond. You will set data standards, oversee databases, and collaborate with project teams to meet budgets and schedules.

The role blends leadership with hands-on GIS work using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, plus Python automation, to improve data quality and drive effective decision-making for clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS or related field.
• 5+ years GIS experience, including 2+ years leading staff.
• Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro; ArcGIS Online/Enterprise.
• Experience managing geodatabases and producing maps.
• Knowledge of coordinate systems, metadata, QA/QC.
• Strong prioritization and budgeting skills.
• Strong communication to explain GIS methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day GIS operations; assign work, set priorities, and review deliverables.
• Develop and maintain GIS standards for data organization, coordinate systems, metadata, cartography, and QA/QC.
• Manage spatial databases and geodatabases, including data collection, editing, validation, versioning, and integration.
• Oversee maps, spatial analyses, web maps, dashboards, and applications using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
• Coordinate with project teams to define scope, estimate effort, manage schedules and budgets.
• Support engineering, environmental, and disaster recovery projects with terrain analysis, LiDAR and elevation data, imagery, infrastructure mapping.
• Develop field data collection workflows using ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123; coordinate data integration.
• Improve recurring workflows through automation using Python, ArcPy, ModelBuilder, or other appropriate tools.
• Coordinate with IT on GIS software, licensing, user access, deployment, data protection, and system performance.
• Provide training and technical support; maintain documentation; support proposals; and plan GIS services.
