Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. seeks a Sr. Certified Coder to support the Gastroenterology Department.

You will abstract clinical information from medical records and assign GI procedural ICD-10 and CPT/CDM codes in line with coding and reimbursement guidelines. You will maintain daily coding, charge entry, and reconciliation for all GI physicians, aiming for 95% accuracy and a daily productivity of 75–85 procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required, plus completion of a HIM or related coding program.
• CPC certification required for the role.
• 1–2 years of physician coding experience preferred.
• Experience with GI coding and CPT/ICD-10 procedures is valued.

Responsibilities

• Abstract relevant clinical information from medical records for GI cases.
• Assigns GI procedural ICD-10 and CPT/CDM codes per guidelines.
• Maintain daily coding, charge entry, and reconciliation for GI physicians.
• Aim for 95% accuracy and 75–85 procedures daily; interact professionally with staff.
