Job summary

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer (PE) to join our Tampa, FL office. You will manage geotechnical projects, provide technical oversight, and engage with clients to deliver practical engineering solutions.

The ideal candidate has hands-on geotechnical investigations, analyses, and reporting experience, with preference for CMT and inspections familiarity. This role offers growth and direct client interaction in a diverse project portfolio.

Qualifications

• PE license is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET‑accredited) or international equivalent with NCEES evaluation.
• Minimum of 5 years in geotechnical engineering, special inspections, and construction materials testing.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, subsurface conditions, foundation, earthwork, and construction‑phase geotechnical services.
• Ability to independently review technical reports, calculations, and field data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and multi‑project management ability.

Responsibilities

• Manage geotechnical projects from proposal through construction‑phase services.
• Plan and oversee subsurface investigations (borings, test pits, field and lab testing).
• Perform and review geotechnical analyses; develop foundation and earthwork recommendations.
• Prepare, review, and approve geotechnical reports, calculations, and deliverables.
• Provide technical oversight during construction and for CMT/inspections as needed.
• Mentor staff and coordinate with contractors, developers, and other stakeholders.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules; monitor quality and financial performance.
